An alarming statistic

Around 6,000 people complete suicide in the UK each year.

The number of calls to Samaritans has reached a record high, almost 5.8 million.

But these are not just statistics, each one is a real life.

The depth and scale of suicide risk will never be known for certain but we, each of us individually can be educated and prepared to talk to and support those as risk of suicide.

Suicide Prevention Scotland by Mind & Mission delivers an intensive and effective programme for individuals not trained in mental health.  You will learn about suicide and develop skills to have confident conversations with individuals about suicide.

We are ready to support your business, charity or community project

Working with Charities

Mind & Mission work with several charities, none make us more proud than our work with The Canmore Trust.

The Canmore Trust is a rapidly growing suicide prevention charity set up by John & Isobel Gibson who found new purpose after the devasting loss of their son Cameron to suicide in 2019.

Recently we attended the premier of their new short film UPSTREAM.  We just had to share it.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate social responsibility is a self-regulating business model that helps a company be socially accountable to itself, its shareholders and the public.  In other words, operating in ways to enhance society and the environment instead of contributing negatively.

If you are an employer, you can support your community and really save lives by sponsoring a suicide prevention programme.

There are two ways you can help:

  • Directly fund a community training programme of your choice and we will facilitate it.
  • Train your own staff in suicide prevention, the profits of which will go directly to funding other community projects.

West Lothian Project

In February 2023, we received a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund, which enabled us to fund five community projects in West Lothian, Scotland in areas that have had devastating suicides in the recent past.

We were astounded by the uptake and privileged to have been able to support so many individuals to learn about suicide and to have confident conversations in the future.
