What is a gong bath?

It’s not actually a bath as it doesn’t involve water.  A Gong Bath is a form of sound therapy, in essence the individual is bathed in sound waves from someone playing gongs in a therapeutic way.  Some gong baths go on for as long as 50 minutes.

The purpose of a gong bath is to bring about a state of relaxation similar to a hypnotic state.   Some claim that you will reach Theta brainwaves, which is the deepest form of meditative state before an actual sleep state.

Sound bathing claims to “harness the resonance and meditative effects like any instrument rich in harmonic frequencies”.

In Edinburgh, an individual standard sound massage can cost you £40.
